Our Lincoln Road
Peterborough Presents are delighted to announce their 2017 community projects. The three projects will be working across Bretton, Hampton, and Millfield, bringing great art to your doorstep. Each project will be completely unique to the area, and will be a fun opportunity for residents of all ages and backgrounds to get creative and work together to try something new and different.
Our Lincoln Road invites people who live and work along and around Lincoln Road to come and share their stories in exchange for some free food, cake and a chat. Come along to one of two sessions in May and the stories you share will become part of a new work of art for Lincoln Road!
Project Name: Our Lincoln Road
Who’s involved: Paper Rhino
Project summed up in one sentence: Bringing creativity and colour to Lincoln Road through street art murals inspired by local people and stories.
How did we choose this project?: All of our projects have been chosen by members of the community. We think the best way to offer great art and creativity is if you get to decide what we do with you! A panel of local residents and business owners in the Millfield community were given a menu of projects to discuss and choose from. Each project was very different, and it was very interesting to listen to the discussions about what residents of Millfield would like to see. Everyone was very passionate about celebrating the diversity of residents and businesses that live and run along Lincoln Road. They also wanted to see the area come to life with colour, so Paper Rhino’s project idea was a perfect fit.
How can you get involved?: The project will begin by running a pop-up creative hub. The hub will be an open space to uncover real local legends through stories of residents, businesses, and local people of all walks of life. This will include collecting a bank of photographs, objects and words to draw inspiration for the murals. To register your interest in attending the creative hub, email Charley at [email protected] or call 01733 864532.
