Massed choirs to perform Verdi’s dramatic Requiem at Peterborough Cathedral

Over 200 singers and musicians will come together on Saturday 12th March at 7.30pm for a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s dramatic and fiery Requiem.

The piece will be performed by Peterborough Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir and Festival Chorus with Peterborough Choral Society and the chamber orchestra Queen’s Park Sinfonia, conducted by Cathedral Director of Music, Steven Grahl. The soloists are Anita Watson, soprano; Jeanette Ager, mezzo; Christopher Steele, tenor and Andrew Mayor, bass.

“Hearing this operatic and stirring piece of music in the splendid setting of the Cathedral promises to be a memorable experience,” said Steven Grahl. “People may already be familiar with the thundering Dies Irae (Day of Wrath) section from TV soundtracks, but it is even better performed live – come and hear it!”

Tickets for the performance range from £15 to £25 (u18s half price) and are available online via the Cathedral website, or from Peterborough Information Centre (01733 452336), Oundle Box Office (01832 274734) and Stamford Arts Centre (01780 763203). £10 side aisle seats are available on the door.
