UnEarthed : John Clare
Five artists, Anita Bruce, Sheelah Mahalath Bewley, Kathryn Parsons, Sam Roddan and Sue Shields, are working in partnership with the John Clare Trust to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Clare’s death. The project involves an artists’ residency based at Clare Cottageresearching the life, work and legacy of John Clare, with a series of installations and interventions in the Cottage culminating in a contemporary art exhibition, supported by artists talks, workshops and a publication. The artists will provide personal but innovative interpretations to enhance understanding and appreciation of Clare’s story. The exhibition will also tour to locations key to Clare’s life – Peterborough and Northampton.
The Project is supported by Arts Council England, Vivacity, the John Clare Trust and Metal Peterborough.
