Stamford Chamber Orchestra
Boyce: Symphony no.5 in D
Handel: Water Music
In the second concert of their 30th anniversary season the SCO present a programme of cheerful music from the eighteenth century to chase away the gloom of mid-winter. The main work comprises all 21 movements of the Water Music – the ‘compositions for the King’s water-party’ of 1717, together with the additional material
which Handel interpolated over the following two decades. When Handel strikes the string, the melting strain Transports the soul, and thrills
through every vein.
