Peterborough: Theatre Uncut
“Theatre Uncut isn’t just a performance, it’s an idea: that theatre can be immediately responsive to world events, engender discussion and effect change.” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
Theatre Uncut was created to get people thinking, talking and taking action.
The idea is simple. Playwrights are asked to write brand new short plays in response to the current political situation. These scripts are then made available for anyone to perform anywhere rights free for a limited period creating the Theatre Uncut Festival of Mass Action.
Peterborough: Theatre Uncut will see local actors performing rehearsed play readings of short plays by Davey Anderson, Clara Brennan, Mark Thomas and many more. The evening will also include responses by local playwrights on subjects that are closer to home.
The performance will take place at Chauffeurs Cottage, St Peters Road, Peterborough, PE1 1YX (behind the town hall), on the Saturday 23rd November. Bar will open at 7.15pm and performance will start at 7.30pm. Admission is free.
Theatre Uncut is led by artistic directors Emma Callander and Hannah Price. The Peterborough performance will be directed by Tom Fox.
