8.00pm: Guest Speakers, Dancer Kate Marsh and Visual Artist Barbra Dougan
Two of our new Time and Space artists, Kate Marsh (Dancer) and Barbara Dougan (Visual Artist) will be in conversation with each other about their practice ahead of their residencies here at Metal Peterborough.
Kate Marsh (based in Peterborough) will use her time at Metal to continue her research and development of a new dance duet with Welly O’Brien . As two dancers with missing limbs, they are both interested in the specificity of their own physicality and how this informs and enriches their collaborative practice and performance. The process will also develop them as choreographers, moving from dancers who perform the work of others to creating and directing themselves. They will work with film maker, Charlotte Darbyshire and creative facilitator Luke Pell to develop ideas for the duet.
Barbara Dougan is a visual artist based in Bury St Edmunds. Her practice explores concepts of threat, constraint, resistance and adaptation articulated through film, animation, print and drawing. Since February 2014 she has been working with the choreographer Darren Ellis. Together they have been developing new works with a dancer, trialling ideas for films, live performance and/or dance based film installation. They will use their time at Metal to create a new installation to showcase their film and live work, and to gain public feedback to inform the development of the work.
