Kathryn Parsons – Found in the Fields
Found in the Fields
at The Project Space, The National Centre for Craft & Design, Sleaford
16th January – 24th April
Kathryn’s delicate hand modelled porcelain, photography & found materials are drawn together in a series of collections inspired by the great poet John Clare and plants that now grow in places that he loved.
John Clare was born in Helpston, just a few miles from Peterborough, and is now regarded by many as one of Britain’s greatest poets. He had a huge capacity for noticing even the small details in his environment. Kathryn’s artwork tells the story of Clare’s love of his local area, and the plants and lichens that can now be found growing there. Focusing on the plants’ textures, structures and forms, the intricate porcelain sculptures tell of woodland flowers, branches covered in lichen and bold architectural plants.
Kathryn Parsons is an artist and visual story teller. Her work explores places, their people and wildlife.
The National Centre for Craft & Design is open daily, with on-site coffee shop & parking adjacent. Free entry to all exhibitions.
