An exhibition by local artist David Swinton, entitled Fenscapes and Foreign Lands, is now displaying at the Museum’s Squires Coffeehouse until 22 February 2015.

Come along and enjoy David’s new take on familiar rural scenes around Peterborough. Fascinated by the impact that man has had upon the landscape, David depicts ancient barns, abandoned farm machinery, derelict mines, and old boats in his warm and earthy watercolours.

A self-employed artist since 1987, David has produced 10 exhibitions of painting, calligraphy, illumination, handwriting and associated arts and has also exhibited and sold at the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, The Laing and the Royal Watercolour Society, Bankside, and has exhibited locally at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech. Artist in Residence posts at many schools in Cambridgeshire have occupied him during the last 14 years.

Now, David is back to painting watercolours full-time and this will be his first major public show since retiring.

Works are for sale through the shop at Peterborough Museum. Prices start from £45 for a double mounted hand painted work. An excellent opportunity to purchase an original artwork for someone you love this Christmas

David can be contacted about commissions or workshops on 01733 687911
