A Passion for Opera
A Passion for Opera takes you on a fabulous tour of the operatic and musical theatre world. The singers are all Heritage Opera regulars, each one a professional soloist. The fabulous singing is accompanied with grand piano.
Heritage Opera has garnered rave reviews from local, national, and music press with their witty interpretations of mainstream opera. This gala concert offers the perfect opportunity for first-time opera goers and experienced aficionados alike to hear many favourite moments from the great operas, in a friendly, non-formal setting.
The singers are all top-class professionals; soprano Sarah Helsby Hughes, tenor Nicholas Sales (ROH, Opera North), baritone Thomas Eaglen (Opera North) and mezzo soprano Serenna Wagner, all accompanied by whiz-kid pianist Benjamin Cox, fresh from his stint as MD from the acclaimed west-end ‘pie-shop’ production of Sweeney Todd.
The programme will include excerpts from favourite operas and musicals; Rigoletto, La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, Carmen, The Barber of Seville, The Pearl Fishers, Porgy and Bess, Gilbert & Sullivan, and many more.
