SPILL NATIONAL PLATFORM OPEN SUBMISSIONS 2016
ARE YOU AN ARTIST OR COMPANY AT THE START OF YOUR CAREER AND LIVING IN THE UK OR IRELAND? DO YOU MAKE EXPERIMENTAL PERFORMANCE, SOUND, FILM, VIDEO, INSTALLATION, NEW MEDIA OR DIGITAL WORK, ACTIVIST ACTIONS, OR ENGAGE WITH MUSEUM COLLECTIONS IN RADICAL NEW WAYS? THEN THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE PART OF SPILL.
The SPILL National Platform supports innovative, daring, exciting work by early makers and those whose practices may have been overlooked. Developed by Pacitti Company and supported by Jerwood Charitable Foundation, the SPILL National Platform is the UK and Ireland’s open submissions platform for experimental makers. This year SPILL will take place between the 26 - 30 October in Ipswich, Suffolk. Throughout the festival, 35 National Platform artists and companies will their present work across a range of spaces, as part of the larger SPILL programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase work to an audience made up of national and international promoters, other artists, members of the public, and to create a core group of Platform artist peers through attending the wider festival.
The National Platform is for artists who are at the beginning of their professional practice, including recent graduates, and have only had a few opportunities to show work publicly. The National Platform is aimed at artists and companies who are interested in the experience or the event of art and who work with ideas of liveness. The Platform is open to artists and companies who are centralising or exploring the liveness of the artist and/or the liveness of the audience through performance, sound, film, video, installation, new media / digital practices, activist actions, and new for 2016, projects that radically engage with museum collections.
